How to choose an electric scooter

Start with the journey and the places where you will carry or store the scooter. A model with a larger battery can still be a poor fit for a daily flight of stairs.

Write down the limits that matter

A practical shortlist checklist
Your situation What to compare
Stairs or public transport Complete scooter weight, folded dimensions, carrying method and the transport operator's rules.
A longer return journey Battery Wh, published range conditions and access to charging.
Uneven surfaces Tyre construction, recommended pressure, suspension and riding position.
Hills or a heavier load Manufacturer load limits, the basis of motor ratings and relevant route evidence.
Limited storage Folded length, width and height, plus a suitable charging location.

Keep model versions separate

A familiar name can cover different batteries, model years, colours and regional versions. Record the full configuration for each candidate. A photo or a family name alone cannot establish the battery, brakes or supplied charger.

On a product page, read the specification table and the fields awaiting confirmation. A missing weight should remain an open question if you need to lift the scooter every day.

Compare power figures on the same basis

Continuous, nominal and peak power labels are not interchangeable. Compare the same rating basis, and keep an unspecified wattage separate. Motor count alone cannot tell you the hill performance, range or stopping distance.

The Voltis comparison tool separates these published fields. Where the data does not establish a specification, the comparison says so.

Check portability as carefully as battery size

Measure your storage space before shopping. Then consider how you will lift, turn and carry the scooter through a doorway. Folded dimensions answer whether it fits; weight and the carrying arrangement answer whether the routine is manageable.

For a concrete example, the Dualtron Flip 60V 52Ah listing gives a compact folded footprint alongside a published weight of 40 kg. A small folded shape does not automatically make a scooter convenient for stairs.

Build a shortlist of two or three exact configurations

  1. Set your budget and carrying limit in the scooter finder.
  2. Open the matching product pages and check missing specifications.
  3. Compare batteries using the battery and range guide.
  4. Compare tyres and suspension using the comfort guide.
  5. Before ordering, confirm the exact configuration, current availability, delivery terms and the requirements where you intend to ride.

Road use and transport rules depend on your location and vehicle category. Check the relevant official authority and transport operator; a model's advertised capability does not establish where you may use it.
